Anne of Green Gables

One of my favorite characters of all time is Anne Shirley.  For the past week in the car I've listened to nothing but Anne of Green Gables and I just love her.  We finished the book on cd yesterday and I kind of want to start it all over again.  Since her birthday is in March we have a Green Gables movie marathon during spring break.  Even the boys loved it last year (though they probably wouldn't admit it)...and they did moan and groan every time we got in the car and tuned in to the next chapter, but Lauren and I were in heaven...and Nicole when she was with us.  Can't wait til Spring Break!!!
Love you Anne with an e.

“Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we know all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there? But am I talking too much? People are always telling me I do. Would you rather I didn't talk? If you say so I'll stop. I can STOP when I make up my mind to it, although it's difficult.”
L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

“It is ever so much easier to be good if your clothes are fashionable.”
L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

“They keep coming up new all the time - things to perplex you, you know. You settle one question and there's another right after. There are so many things to be thought over and decided when you're beginning to grow up. It keeps me busy all the time thinking them over and deciding what's right. It's a serious thing to grow up, isn't it, Marilla?”
L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

  1. I need to come ride in your car! I don't know that I've seen the movies in the past 18 years or ever read the books :( I lie, I saw part of one of the movies right after Jand had Myles.

  2. From one kindred spirit to another, I too love Anne!! All those quotes are so true!! Love the clothes one almost the best though!! :)
And I have to thank you, because you just gave me the next series I need to read. I just finished with the Twilight series. (I know, I know.:)) And I've been needing another book. I have seen all the Anne movies, but never read a book. Can't wait to start!! :)

  3. I'm not stocking you I promise... but I found a link to your blog from Jandi's. :o)
This book is definitely a classic! It's Denver's favorite. She read the abridged version probably 10 times before she picked up the unabridged one sitting on our shelf, and she flew through it. I have yet to show her the movies, I may have to borrow them from the library so she can see the magic come to life! Enjoy your Anne of Green marathon.

  5. I love the idea of having an Anne of Green Gables marathon during spring break! Emma and I just may have to copy you... The October quote is one of my favorites because all three of our kids were born in October. :)
I have so enjoyed getting to know Nicole and Brooke a little through their blogs. I can't even tell you how thankful I am for parents like you and the Penni's who are raising such strong, good, faithful and beautiful YW. My Emma looks up to them and they are such good examples to her. They have been so kind to her and she is always excited to read one of their posts and to email back and forth. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
